Colombia, the land of colors

This was something else! Starting from the airport, we met some friendliest and happiest people on earth – locals and expats from around the world, very helpful cops and a one that asked for a payout (story for another time), cabbies who would go any length to help us even with our very limited Spanish skills.

Despite the bad reputation of Colombia’s safety, we are glad to inform you that at no point in our 3 weeks in the big cities, we felt unsafe or threatened. Lots of tourist and regular Police around.

Colombia was unforgettable: abundant wild life / night life, food and is full of life. On top of all that, it’s super affordable. Come find out for yourselves.

After almost 20 hours of travel (Victoria-Toronto-Bog), we arrived here at 6am. 30 minute cab ride (7US$) to our downtown hotel (ICON 48), quick unpack, clean up, by 9am we were on our way to discover the unknowns of Colombia.

Bogotá

Bogotá is a vibrant, clean, modern city with sky scrapers and advanced metro subway system. Located in Colombian Andes range at an altitude of 8400ft, Bogotá occupies a sloping plain at the base of two mountains, Guadalupe and Monserrate. It is a fusion of cultures, arts and life.
